Story Prompt Generator
A scene you can write in one sitting.
Write one scene. The only employee of a museum that never opens wants to hear one true sentence from a person who lies well. In the way: a stranger already knows their name. Place: the service corridor of a luxury hotel. Before the last paragraph, the protagonist is the one who already did the damage. Tone: hopeful without promising a win. Aim for a sitting, not a novel.
These open another site. If a link includes tracking, we may earn a commission. The prompt does not change.
This is not a genre wheel. Each prompt names a person, what they want in the next hour, what is in the way, where they are, and the turn that should arrive before the last paragraph. Use it for short stories, comics, or a cold open.
How to use it
- Generate a brief. Read it once out loud.
- Write toward the twist; do not explain it in the first line.
- Copy the LLM prompt if you want a draft to argue with.
- If the tone does not fit, generate again. Do not rewrite the machine.
Questions
Is this a story prompt generator or a plot generator?
A scene generator. You get enough pressure for 800–1,500 words, not a three-act outline.
Can I use this for fanfiction?
Yes. Swap the named protagonist for a character you already know and keep the want and obstacle.
Does it write the story for me?
No. It writes the assignment. The LLM prompt tab is optional and still needs your judgment.
Why keep it this short?
Long prompts become permission to delay. A single sitting is the point.
